Barcelona could stand to benefit financially as Aston Villa want to sign former winger

Abde Ezzalzouli was one of many victims of Barcelona’s economic distress in the summer. The club were under immense pressure to reduce the salary mass, which led to the attacker’s move to Real Betis.

An agreement was reached for just €7.5 million, with Barcelona retaining 50% of the player’s transfer rights. Abde was courted by several top clubs, but the forward wanted to join Real Betis.

Abde could leave Barcelona a fortune

As we approach the halfway point of the season, Abde’s move to Real Betis has been quite a success. He has scored four goals in 19 competitive appearances, gaining more prominence with each passing week.

Abde’s good start to life at Real Betis has not gone unnoticed, and the player has been courted by Aston Villa, as per reports relayed by SPORT.

The report suggests that Aston Villa were among the clubs that wanted to sign Abde in the summer. But they have now intensified their interest in the forward, following his explosion at Real Betis.

Abde’s potential sale could bring Barcelona a fortune. That is because, as mentioned earlier, the club hold 50% of the player’s transfer rights.

That means if Abde gets sold for a fee of around €50 million, Barça would stand to gain a fee of €25 million or so.

Barcelona also hold buyback clause

Barcelona also hold another clause in the deal that would enable them to re-sign Abde for a fee of €20 million.

Although the Catalans are currently desperate to offload players due to the economic situation, it is not completely ruled out that the club will not consider re-signing Abde in the future.

Real Betis, for their part, would want to keep hold of Abde for the time being. But they do face pressure to sell players after a busy summer.
