Two Barcelona stars risk suspension for UCL Round of 16 first leg with a booking vs Royal Antwerp

Barcelona go into tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash against Royal Antwerp with a spot in the knockout stages of the competition already secured.

It has not exactly been smooth sailing, but the Catalans have got the job done in Europe, entering the Round of 16 for the first time after failing in the last two seasons.

With the top spot in the group also pretty much secured, there is not much at stake for the Blaugrana, although they will be playing for pride after the weekend’s disappointing defeat to Girona. Furthermore, the match-winning fee of close to €3 million will also be welcome.

Two players at suspension risk

But as Barcelona head into tonight’s game, two of their players would be at the risk of suspension for the first leg of the Round of 16.

Indeed, as things stand, two first-team regulars – Ronald Araujo and Joao Felix – are currently on two yellow cards apiece in the Champions League.

And another booking tonight against Royal Antwerp would make it three and earn them an automatic one-match suspension.

This could come as a major concern for Barcelona as Joao Felix and Araujo could end up missing the first leg of the important Round of 16 tie should they receive a caution in Belgium tonight.

So, both players will have to be careful, although in case of Araujo, it is expected that he will not be playing tonight and will be rested.
