On-loan Barcelona defender Chadi Riad is turning heads with his scintillating performances at Real Betis so much so that the Los Verdiblancos are contemplating a permanent purchase of the 20-year-old, reports SPORT.

Since joining Manuel Pellegrini’s side, Riad has established himself as a first team regular, playing 14 games across La Liga and Copa del Rey, clocking more than 1000 minutes.

It is to be noted that Riad has a purchase option in his loan deal with Betis and at just 20 years of age, he has demonstrated his ability to shine at the highest level, leaving a strong mark on the team’s overall performance.

His run in the Betis starting XI has largely been influenced by the departure of Luiz Felipe to Saudi Arabia on the final day of the transfer window which created an opportunity for him. 

On the other hand, following Marc Bartra’s injury, he seamlessly claimed a spot in the starting eleven alongside the seasoned German Pezzella.

The 20-year-old has maintained an unbroken streak of game appearances for Betis since September 28, excluding Europa League matches where he was not included due to the club’s decision not to register him.

The magnitude of his inclusion in the first team reflects in his team’s performance and the statistics show how influential he can be.

In the 14 games played this season with Riad in the lineup, Betis have suffered only one defeat. Conversely, in the 11 occasions where Riad did not participate, Betis faced defeat in four matches.

Riyad is undeniably a crucial asset for Betis, with strong indications that the club has initiated communication with the player’s representatives to express their intention to activate the €3 million purchase option. 

The fulfilment of specific performance criteria has made this option obligatory, prompting the club to pursue the transaction’s finalization before the season concludes.
