19-year-old Barcelona starlet attracting interest from several Spanish, European clubs – report
Mikayil Faye was one among the several young talents Barcelona signed during the last summer window keeping an eye on the future.
The 19-year-old arrived from Croatian outfit NK Kustosija and was swiftly brought into the first-team training during pre-season, with the youngster even travelling to the USA for friendly matches.
Since then, Faye has grown into a mainstay for Barça Atletic under Rafa Marquez while training on a fairly regular basis with the senior setup under Xavi’s watchful eyes.
Mikayil Faye attracting interest
Now, according to journalist Santi Ovalle (via Culemania), Mikayil Faye is attracting a lot of interest from clubs in Spain as well as the rest of Europe.
The 19-year-old is a product of Barcelona’s new recruitment policy: young, with potential, signed in silence after scouring the depths of the transfer market.
Faye has shown immense potential already with Barça Atletic, displaying maturity beyond his age, while his tackling and physicality have also caught the eye.
As such, a number of clubs from within Spain and in Europe have set their sights on Faye as per the report.
Not long ago, it was reported that Girona have been scouting the Senegalese prospect on several occasions. More recently, it has been claimed that Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund are also looking at the teenage starlet.
Barcelona, for their part, have no interest in listening to any offers for Faye at this moment, given his importance for the reserve team as well as the potential he has shown.
But, a loan move in the summer could become an option for him to gain experience at the highest level before breaking into the first-team setup at Barcelona.
