Barcelona have no plans to sell 20-year-old loanee in the summer – report

Constantly scouring for talents on the ascendancy, Barcelona acquired the services of Pablo Torre in 2022 from Racing Santander, as he was a hot prospect at the time, making waves for the Spanish side and heavily approached by Real Madrid.

Having tied him down to a contract until 30 June 2026, with a buyout clause of €100 million, the Catalan giants were looking to emulate the success they found with the likes of Pedri Gonzalez and Ronald Araujo.

However, Torre has not yet had the opportunity to spread his wings in Catalonia.

Barcelona concluded the previous season with Torre hardly getting a whiff of consistent playtime, playing less than 200 minutes in La Liga, which is never ideal for a youngster requiring growth.

This past summer, Barça loaned him out to their Catalan counterparts, Girona, with competition in the squad rising and Xavi not deeming him ready enough to feature regularly in the lineup.

Barcelona intend to reunite with Torre

Now, as per SPORT, Barcelona does not intend to sell Pablo Torre in the summer of 2024, and the idea is for him to be with the team next season.

While the 20-year-old has not been a mainstay in the starting lineup for Michel, he has already overtaken his minutes from last season, totaling 381 minutes in the league.

Torre has also scored for Girona in the one Copa del Rey game he participated in against Orihuela.

Barcelona loaned the Cantabrian out without offering Girona a buy option for the summer because they believe he will be a key player in the upcoming season.

The plan is for him to play and be firmly established in the squad again, which will be Pablo Torre’s biggest challenge.
