There is a lot of buzz surrounding Vitor Roque after the striker finally arrived at Barcelona last week. The 18-year-old was signed in the summer itself from Athletico Paranaense, but stayed put in Brazil for the first half of the season.
Financial Fair Play problems were the reason behind Barça not adding him to the squad in the summer itself, but with the club not firing on all cylinders in recent matches, Xavi Hernandez & co. saw it best to bring him into the fold this month.
Roque arrived in Barcelona in the last week of December and has even participated in a few training sessions with his new teammates.
Roque’s presentation postponed
Following his arrival, it was reported that Vitor Roque’s official presentation as a Barcelona player would be taking place tomorrow, i.e., January 3 (Wednesday).
However, as per the latest update from Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana have decided to postpone the event from Wednesday to Friday, with the 18-year-old’s presentation now set for January 5.
This is because on January 3, Barça will be preparing and previewing the game against Las Palmas which will take place on Thursday.
As such, there will already be a lot of activity, such as training sessions and Xavi’s press conference. And the Catalans do not want to mix the two events. Hence, Roque’s presentation is now moved to Friday.
Roque could debut vs Las Palmas
As mentioned earlier, Roque arrived in Barcelona in the last week of December and has since participated in training under Xavi, including the session on December 30 which was open to fans.
While his presentation might be pushed forward, there is every chance that the 18-year-old could be on the squad list for Thursday’s game against Las Palmas and could even get his debut in the Canary Islanders.
