La Liga’s latest allegation against Barcelona in efforts to de-register Dani Olmo – report

The feud between Barcelona and La Liga over the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor has been ongoing for a long time now.

It initially appeared that the league would get their way with the players being denied registration leading to a tense situation in early January.

Joan Laporta and Co., however, approached the CSD and secured a precautionary measure to register both players after proving that they had submitted all the required documents from their Camp Nou VIP box seats deal in time.

While the players are currently registered to play, La Liga is determined to cancel their registrations and have found a new flaw in Barcelona’s side of the story in the letter of allegations presented to the CSD.

Suspected manipulation of finances

Barcelona made the enrolment of Olmo and Victor possible after narrowly returning to the 1:1 rule just in time before the end of last year. The aforementioned operation was only possible owing to a last-minute sale of VIP seats in the new Spotify Camp Nou.

Barcelona declared that investors from Qatar and UAE pumped in €28 million to help the club eventually register both players.

La Liga, however, accuses Barcelona of taking the money from a party internally linked with the club, according to El Confidencial, as relayed by AS.

The Spanish league offices have found out that Barcelona’s investors, in fact, are Emirates New Era Visionary Group, a group that happens to be the club’s official telecommunication partners since November 2024.

Javier Tebas and Co. thus allege foul play and hope to move CSD by proving that Barcelona manipulated the finances by taking money from a pre-existing stakeholder.

For Barcelona’s part, however, they will claim that it is immaterial where the funds arrive from as long as there is an agreement in place to pay the required €100 million in the long run.

With the CSD pressed to make a decision before April 7th, it remains to be seen how much they read into the latest development.
